Violeta Bulc is the European Commissioner for Transport. She is a member of the Slovenian SMC Party (the Modern Centre Party). Before switching to the public office, she has gained experience working in executive positions for several companies in the IT- and Telecoms industry. In 1991, after obtaining a Master’s degree in Information Technology at the Golden Gate University in San Francisco, she kick-started her career in Silicon Valley. She then returned to Slovenia in 1994, where she held various positions at Telekom Slovenia and Telemach Ltd. From 2000 to 2014 she was owner and CEO of Vibacom, a company engaged in business solutions on sustainability and innovation. After her time as a CEO, she became Minister responsible for Development, Strategic Projects and Cohesion in the Slovenian government. That same year (2014) she was assigned the transport portfolio in the European Commission by Jean-Claude Juncker.
