The European aeronautics sector, one of the top technologically advanced sectors in Europe, contributes largely to Europe’s growth in terms of investments in Research, Innovation and Development (RID), global competitiveness, the creation of high-skilled jobs and long-term sustainability. However, it is also facing growing challenges due to persisting unfair competition, expanding security regulations, intensifying safety issues and rising environmental concerns. Against this background, regular policy discussions between EU Institutions and the aeronautics sector are key to provide the right framework in which the sector can continue to thrive and deal with these challenges.

The annual conference, initiated by the European Parliament’s Sky and Space Intergroup (SSI) with the support of ASD (the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe), provides an important opportunity for industrial stakeholders, labour unions, research centres and organisations from different sectors to exchange views and knowledge with high-level decision-makers from the Parliament, the Commission and the Council. In its third edition, the conference will deal with the above-mentioned challenges and opportunities in plenary and working group sessions. The aim of the conference is to produce tangible working results aiming to inspire future political initiatives at EU level.
